Lately...going on

Besides starting to study for my anatomy exam... (maybe or maybe not that is going well) there are a few other things going on that I would like to share with you.

1. Bible Study
- I joined a women's bible study group and we are studying the book of Ruth. It's going well so far and interesting because I never really know about Ruth. I'll let you know how the next meetings go!

2. Trying out workout classes on campus
- I finally tried out the gym on the "health sciences" campus the other day. I love to work out and take group classes so I was excited. I tried the step class they have. Well....it was okay. I definitely could have been pushed more. It was a bunch of middle aged women so I don't think the instructor pushed us that much. At least I did get a little sweat in :)

3. Starting to volunteer
- I recently heard about the Backside Learning Center which teaches English to Hispanic workers at Churchill Downs. I was excited to hear about it because I wanted to get some more practice with my Spanish. Right now I'm getting set up with a student to tutor. I had my orientation, but haven't started yet. I will let you know how that goes.

4. The Fray new song
- I love love love this new song!! Check it out here: Love Don't Die

5. Getting Chicago figured out
- So my professor decided to fund my trip to a national convention for my major in mid-November. It's in Chicago. I'm excited!! Planning it has been a little difficult because of the money. But apparently they are paying $250/night at an Embassy Suites for another student and I wowzers! I'm not complaining though ;)

Huber's

What a beautiful day for Huber's Farm! Today, I went to Huber's with my friends, Brie, Maura, Maggie, and Maggie's boyfriend, Aaron. It was fun to get some fresh air and pick out a pumpkin! We first went to Huber's Farm and Restaurant, where we rode a tractor to the field. We had to make sure that we picked out just the right pumpkin.

Afterwards we went to Huber Winery and had some delicious Blackberry Sangria. Yum!
What a fun day with friends!

One last thing....So earlier, we made a bet of who could guess the closet weight of Maggie and Aaron's pumpkin. I won! My prize was keeping the pitcher the Sangria was in. Yay me!

Go CARDS!

I've gone to two UofL football games since starting grad school there. Yay! They are a blast! The first one was last week against Rutgers and we won! The one that I went to last night as a nail biter. We ended up losing in the last 40 seconds of the game. Sad day....and first loss of the season. Last night we had a big group, high school friends and new friends too!

Fall Break 2013

I was so happy to go home since starting grad school. I always have the best time at home with my family. I also got to meet Penny, which was super exciting too :)

I would like to share with you what I did while I was home! I was busy everyday and had a little couch time as well. I thought I was going to have an exam the day after Fall Break, but the professor changed it to the week after...thank goodness!! So, I was actually able to enjoy my break.

Saturday:

I was first woken up by the cutest puppy ever.... (even though she's not supposed to be on the bed!)

In the morning, our parish had a blessing of pets because the previous day was the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. So many cute dogs! Just look how well behaved she looks. She likes being Catholic :) hehe

First trip to the dog park after church. She was a little intimidated and scared. She didn't mingle with any other dogs. Just some sniffing.

That afternoon I went shopping with my Mom and helped with the Food Drive going on that weekend. That evening I went to Chris's soccer game. This was my first high school game of his. It was quite exciting and those players are mean and crazy. Too long of story to share, but Mom and I were fired up after the game ha!

Sunday was of course mass in the morning and then I helped with the Food Drive again. The rest of the day I hung out with the family...since everyone was home. Yay!

Monday was a lot of fun with Mom. We visited two vineyards. Jonathon Edwards and Stonington Vineyards. JED was beautiful. The other one was just ok. We weren't too impressed with any of the wine, but it was still fun. Oh....and we stopped at Foxwoods Casino while we were in that area. Aren't we just party animals?! The Casino was huge and unfortunately we didn't win in any money. We didn't stay too long though. The casino had a Hard Rock Cafe, which was the coolest one I've ever seen because it had a lot of memorabilia from famous musicians I actually know. Things from Usher, Beatles, Destiny's Child, Madonna, Styx, etc.

After the second winery we headed to the water, aka the sound. It was a cloudy day, but it was still nice out. We stopped at Dog Watch Cafe which was the cutest little restaurant on the water.

My last day was a good day too!
I went to the gym at the crack of dawn to get my butt kicked. I love it! I miss working out with my mom and taking these tough classes. For lunch, Mom and I went out with our friend Swee. We went to a restaurant in Newtown called Figs, which is absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the pizza.
The afternoon was designated as homework time. I didn't do too much, but at least it wasn't zero. I did a lot of it on the porch with Penny..

Fall is really beautiful in Connecticut. See you in December CT!

Can't wait to see how this one will get by then! ;)

#VarsityVoxBox

I received my second complimentary VoxBox from Influenster in the mail the other day! I was really excited! Since they knew that I'm a college student, this box theme was all about college. Which most of what they sent was right on target. I'm not sure if those funky nail stickers fit Grad school though...ha!

Here is what was included in this one:

- Sample of Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash
- Airheads Xtremes Bite
- Kiss Nail Dress
- NYC New York Color Big Bold & Shine Lip Gloss
- Tide Pods

I'm excited to try all these products! I will give some feedback later once I get to test them out. I have to say I'm most excited for the face wash because I always like trying new products for my face.

Three Month Old PENNY

I finally got to meet Penny this past weekend. She is such a cutie! The cutest puppy I've ever seen. She is very spastic and rambunctious, but I still love her! I mean who can say no to a face like hers! Her are some photos from this weekend when I went home to visit during my Fall Break.

Selfie of Penny and I..she decided to give me some kisses!

OneRepublic - Counting Stars

I love this song right now!
