Surrender

The Gospel and homily during Mass today really made me think. It was all about not worrying. We need to focus on the present and doing God's will. "Thy will be done" as we say every time in the Our Father. The only possession that we have is free will. All of the belongings we have don't really matter. When we pray we need to focus on other things besides "me, me, me"

Father read this prayer today:

Surrender

Ignatius of LoyolaTake, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I surrender it
all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.

Today's mass reading:
Matthew 6: 24 - 34
24"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
25"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?
28And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin;
29yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith?
31Therefore do not be anxious, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?'
32For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.
34"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day.

99 Balloons

Today at our Hilltoppers for Life meeting this video was shown. It is sad, yet promotes a huge message about pro-life. This couple chose not to have an abortion for their child that they knew had a chromosomal disease. They cherished 99 days with their son and thanked God for the gift they received.

Waiting Game

Last week I submitted two important applications.

1. Acceptance into the Communication Disorders undergraduate program

2. Study Abroad to Spain this summer.

Now it's just the waiting game....

StumbleUpon

I have heard of Stumbleupon.com before, but have never really looked into. But today I decided to sign up. You pick categories that interest you and then you hit the magic button "stumble!" and it comes up with random websites that would interest you. It is really neat and I've already been on it a lot today.

Here are some sites that I have added as my favorites so far:

Caterpillar Cupcakes

Before

After

Happy February! Wow, once again it has been a long time since I last updated my blog. This semester has already been very busy for me! I just don't seem to have much time to update very often.

I had a great weekend in Cincinnati babysitting my two cousins. My uncle and aunt went to the super bowl to cheer on the Packers while I stayed home with Sean (4) and Allison (almost 2). It was a lot of fun and it was great to see them and spend time with them because I don't see them too often. They have grown up so much since I saw them last in October. Allison is saying a lot more words, like "Wow" when I read her pop-up books! Sean is really smart and likes to inform me about A LOT of things! I brought my friend Jordan along and we enjoyed playing with them. Sunday we decided to bake caterpillar cupcakes. They had a pan that was made to make caterpillar cupcakes so we used it. It was funny to watch the kids try to ice them and put sprinkles on. I hope to see them sometime again soon!
